I am pretty sure this may be my first family photography post in a couple years. This post represents a shift in focus for me and I am excited to share that with you all. I truly love weddings and focusing on the love between a couple; capturing all the moments of a wedding day. However, since starting my own family, I have felt this desire to photograph other families. To capture life’s moments, because if you have kids you know it’s 90 per cent not Pinterest worthy.
So the goal I am setting for myself, is to split my time between families and weddings. I want to become a go to for family photography in this area. This will allow me to take my photography back to the root of where I started, in photojournalism. Focusing my skills on documenting life. I hope to echo this approach even more with the weddings I shoot and improve and grow in both business branches. I am also currently taking a one-year mentorship course with an incredible Denver-based family photographer by the name of Kirsten Lewis. If you’ve never heard of her check her work out here. Kirsten is an incredible story-teller and I am so excited to be learning from someone I admire so much.
So here it is, my first attempt at Documentary Family Photography, a half ‘day in the life’, which is essentially that; documenting life unscripted. There is no agenda; these are candid and full of life. I am still learning so am offering special rates for anyone who is interested. They don’t have to be a half day, this can be a couple hours or even a full day. So if you or someone you know is interested, please get in touch. I would love to document your family!
