Drake Devonshire weddings are my favourite so I can’t believe I haven’t blogged this one yet. Greg and Emily’s wedding was an intimate event with their closest friends and family. It was full of laughter, love, emotion and the Drake Devonshire was the perfect backdrop for it all.
I asked Greg and Emily to share some advice for future couples looking to get married in Prince Edward County. Here is what they had to say:
Why did you choose Prince Edward County and the Drake Devonshire for your wedding?
We chose Prince Edward County for our Drake Devonshire wedding for several reasons! It’s close to our cottage, a place that my husband grew up with and has meant a lot to him and a place where we are now enjoying summers as a growing family! We wanted something outside of Toronto (where we live), we knew we wanted a small-ish wedding and asking only our closest family and friends to make a weekend out of our big day turned out to be a lot of fun! With a pre-wedding day BBQ, and our guests getting to hang out at wineries, sandbanks and even staying at the same B&Bs; it really added a lot to our big day as people who had never met all got to really know and enjoy each others company! Most of all the county is BEAUTIFUL…
What advice would you give brides planning a wedding in Prince Edward County?
Book early! There are not a tonne of vendors in the county yet so get your hands on the best people & services asap (especially hair/make up)! Book early is MOST important for your guests if they need accommodations (especially in the summer months) – places book up FAST. Local wine makes a great wedding gift for your guests. Hire a local musician to play at your ceremony and/or reception – there’s lots of young talent out there!
